Hamilton Transport Centre

Hamilton Transport Centre is located on the corner of Bryce Street and Anglesea Street. It is the central hub for passenger services in Hamilton, regional and national bus services.  

 

BUSIT (Local Bus)

Waikato Regional Council is responsible for the region’s bus services.  We operate 24 bus services within Hamilton as well as 12 regional services.

In total, our buses serve more than 1,000 bus stops and carry around four million passengers a year. And we try to ensure that our buses are as accessible as possible for those who are mobility, visually or hearing impaired. 

The Transport Centre is situated on the corner of Bryce Street and Anglesea Street, Hamilton. Most of our bus services travel to and from the Hamilton Transport Centre. Inside the main building, we have a staffed BUSIT counter open from 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Come in and see us to find out anything and everything about buses, or to buy or top-up a Bee Card. 


Flex into the city at night

You can use it to get to/from Hamilton CBD on Friday and Saturday nights from anywhere in the city boundary, or between the Hamilton Transport Centre and Hamilton Airport. The smaller buses provide a more direct link to where you need to go and are based around your timetable, not ours.

On a Flex bus, you're likely to share your ride with others heading in the same direction. Bookings are made via the app.


Flex to Hamilton Airport

Need a ride between Hamilton central and the airport? Use Flex!

Flex operates between the Hamilton Transport Centre and Hamilton Airport seven days a week between 9.15am and 4pm.

Prebook your seat via the app – for only $1.50 each way – and your luggage travels for free.

Te Huia Train

Te Huia is the passenger rail service that connects Waikato to Auckland. 


Capable of carrying over 500 passengers per day, Te Huia will transform the journey of Waikato commuters travelling between Hamilton, Huntly and Auckland.

Te Huia weekday services will begin travelling to The Strand in central Auckland to a new timetable when Te Huia resumes.

The Great Journeys of New Zealand

Interislander

The Interislander ferry is the longest running Cook Strait ferry service in New Zealand. Interislander sails between Wellington (North Island) and Picton (South Island). Our Interislander ferry is known as one of the most beautiful ferry journeys in the world and one of New Zealand's most iconic tourism experiences. The Interislander is one of the unmissable Great Journeys of New Zealand. It connects to our scenic rail experiences; the Coastal Pacific, which runs from Picton to Christchurch, and the Northern Explorer which journeys through the heart of the North Island.


Northern Explorer 

New Zealand's longest running passenger service, the Northern Explorer is a long distance scenic train service running between Auckland and Wellington, stopping at Palmerston North, Ohakune, National Park and Hamilton. The journey through Tongariro National Park, with its three spectacular volcanic mountains – Tongariro, Ngāuruhoe and Ruapehu – is a highlight, a place of extremes and surprises, where snow-blanketed fields, ancient lava flows and dense beech forests can be seen side by side.

Hamilton Airport

The gateway to the Waikato region.  The Hamilton Airport services domestic flights only, it is located 15 minutes drive south of central city Hamilton. Directions to and from the airport are clearly marked with road signs on State Highway 1 and State Highway 3. Either of these highways can be taken to and from the airport.
