The inaugural exhibition from the weavers who belong to Te Roopu Raranga Whatu o Aotearoa showcases taonga (treasures) woven from a variety of fibres used traditionally by our tuupuna (ancestors).

Taane Mahuta (God of the forest) is an offspring of the primal parents, Papatuuaanuku and Ranginui. The descendents of Taane include the plant life. Native plants including piingao, houhere, kuta, kiekie, neinei and harakeke have been used by weavers to create the woven taonga on display. Be enchanted by the diversity and range of taonga produced by members of Te Roopu Raranga Whatu o Aotearoa, our national weaving body.
