Dog Friendly Parks

It’s important that we provide family and dog-friendly parks by making areas safe and fun for people and their pooches.

From launching themselves into the Waikato River at Days Park, or foraging amongst the trees at Pukete Farm Park – your dog can enjoy many off-lead areas set aside specifically to exhaust them!

While enjoying these parks please ensure dogs are kept under control and do not roam outside the designated area. The maps below show the areas where dogs may be exercised. All poo must be collected and disposed of responsibly.  

Unfortunately dogs are excluded from the enclosed sector of Hamilton Gardens, Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park, cemeteries, the picnic lawn in front of The Verandah Cafe and playground at Hamilton Lake Domain, and within 10 metres of all park playgrounds.

​Fenced dog exercise area

​Hamilton's first fenced dog exercise area at Minogue Park in Forest Lake. The choice of location for the new one-hectare off-leash space was based on public feedback. It's a space for pooches and handlers who need the extra security of boundaries.​
