The first vines planted in New Zealand were planted north of Hamilton in Rongopai. Research started in the late 1800s to identify which grape varieties are best suited to our soils and climate. Today local vineyards produce a variety of great produce.

Rongopai Wines

In the heart of the Waikato, above beautiful Lake Waikare, lies the small town of Te Kauwhata.
