About Te Kuiti
Te Ku
iti is a tranquil town, surrounded by serene and unspoiled countryside.
It is known as the 'Shearing Capital of the World' due to the annual New Zealand Shearing Championships, and the town's 7 metre shearing statue reminds visitors of this event. Another annual event is called, The Running of the Sheep, where 2,000+ sheep are let loose in the main street.
- The Tatsuno Japanese Garden was developed using many elements of a traditional Japanese garden, donated by Tatsuno, Te Kuiti's sister city.
