About Putaruru
Putaruru has an affluent farming community, and predominant timber industry.
The nearby Te Waihou Walkway, leading to the ultra-clear Blue Spring is a highlight. The pure water from the Blue Spring is bottled, and represents 60% of New Zealand's bottled water. The blue colours of the Putaruru Waterpark in the town mimic the colours of the Blue Spring.
On the local waterways trout fishing, swimming, tubing, kayaking and snorkelling are popular.
