Raglan is a west coast harbour town, featuring black sand (due to iron content), swimming beaches and one of the longest left-hand surf breaks in the southern hemisphere.

Local activities include sea kayaking, kite surfing, paragliding, horse trekking and tramping.

Raglan is a centre of arts and crafts, relaxing cafes and live music. The spectacular Bridal Veil Falls (55m) and Mount Karioi are close by.
