Contemporary Ethnography Across the Disciplines Conference
Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 November 2012
Planning is well under way to stage a second Symposium at the Faculty of Education here at the University of Waikato on Culturally Responsive Research and Pedagogy.
We are delighted that Luis Moll and Nancy Hornberger have agreed to offering keynote addresses.
We are planning for a mix of overseas visitors, and local presenters and symposium members with an interest in and a willingness to present on the way the symposium theme is played out in a range of contexts, including of course, New Zealand/Aotearoa.
The Hamilton i-SITE Visitor Centre is working with a wide variety of Hotel, Motel and Bed & Breakfast accommodation operators throughout Hamilton and the Waikato.

2013 Music Conference Tui tuituia -Towards a world of light through music education
Monday 7 to Thursday 10 January 2013
The University of Waikato
Orff New Zealand Aotearoa (ONZA) and
Music Education New Zealand (MENZA)
We invite your participation in an international music education conference to be held at the Faculty of Education, University of Waikato, on 7 January to 10 January 2013. The conference theme highlights the role music education can play in the growth of persons, in bringing people together, in celebrating connectedness with place, and in embracing the musics that make us what we are.
Donn Ratana: Tui tuituia
The conference committee invites paper presentations and workshops from local and international presenters that relate in some way to the philosophy and practices of Orff Schulwerk as an approach to music education in its broadest sense.
The organisers have identified the following themes as providing a focus for this conference:
■ Music in relation to other expressive modalities
■ Music and the growth of persons
■ Music-making in the company of others and as a community of practice
■ Music and the sense of place
■ Embracing a range of musics and musical traditions
■ Music pedagogy and theories of learning.
